Happy World Autism Awareness Day

Photobucket

Happy World Autism Awareness Day!

As many of you know - I have a nephew with autism so I hold this close to my heart.

Here is some interesting information I found online:
-Approximately 67 million people worldwide are affected by Autism
-Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the world
-More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with diabetes, cancer and AIDS combined
-Boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism (1 in 94 boys; 1 in 150 children overall)
-There is no medical detection or cure for autism, but early diagnosis and intervention improve outcomes

The following "red flags" may indicate that a child is at risk and should be screened to ensure that he/she is on the right developmental path:

-No big smiles or other warm, joyful expressions by six months or thereafter
-No back-and-forth sharing of sounds, smiles, or other facial expressions by nine months or thereafter
-No babbling by 12 months
-No back-and-forth gestures such as pointing, showing, reachin, or waving by 12 months
-No words by 16 months
-No two-word meaningful phrases (without imitating or repeating) by 24 months
-No response when the child's name is called by 10 months
-Any loss of speech, babbling or social skills at any age

Balboa Peninsula Beach Wedding

I have known this bride for awhile and she is so sweet! Brian went and took some quick photos on their wedding day after they got married in the LDS San Diego Temple. They had TK Burgers at their reception. Brian was quite excited for the food! :)

Cody!

We are back from the hospital with our newest addition! Our third son, Cody Kettley Gilmore was born on March 11th and weighed a whopping 10 lbs 2 oz! We didn't know the sex - but were pretty sure it was a girl - just because this pregnancy was so different than my last two. Just goes to show - you never know! We are happy to have Cody in our family. T & B absolutely LOVE him. They want to hold him and are constantly asking questions. Tyler likes to tell me when he smiles, wants to see his feet, his diaper, etc. Brian is more confused by where he gets his "milk." He wants to know where the bottle is. Not sure where to go with that one. :) Anyway - here are some quick shots from the hospital. Also - some friends wanted to see photos of my other two boys when they were born - so I am posting those too. :)

I love how babies bodies just curl up naturally the first week or so (this is the perfect time for "newborn shoots" FYI)

Baby #3

I am leaving for the hospital in about two minutes to have baby #3. This is the last post I will make as a mother of two - and it's kind of...different. I have done the c-section surgery with both of my boys, but I am SO nervous this time around. I am not sure why - I just am. I am excited to find out if we will have another Gilmore boy to add to the mix, or if it will be a Gilmore girl. Little B is VERY excited and has been counting down his "sleeps" until they get to see the baby out of mommy's tummy. He tells me constantly that he is going to be a big helper and teach him/her to crawl. :) Tyler pretty much copies his older brother - so he is excited too, but I am not sure if he gets the big picture. We have talked a lot about how babies cry a lot and need to be held by mommy - but only time will tell if Tyler is really okay with the whole thing. Anyway - I had to make this quick - just wanted to let you guys know I am going under the knife really soon - nervous - excited - but more nervous - and I will post again when I get home to let you know the outcome! :) Thank you to everyone that has helped me the past two months while I have been on a bedrest and in the hospital. I couldn't have done it without you (you know who you are!). I feel so blessed to have so many friends and family come to our aid at a time when we needed some help. I don't know how I can repay you all - but please know - when you need help - I am there for you! :)

Orange County Maternity Portrait Session in Newport Beach

Brian took a quick shot of me in the studio last week (even though I am on bedrest) - it was fast, don't worry. :) Anyway - we tried to get an angle that wasn't too scary, so this is what we came up with.

Disco/Gambling in the 70's

We had a great birthday party in January. The theme was 70's (since I was born in the 70's) then we hired Ace's High Casino Rental and had Allan (an AWESOME DJ) do all the music. My parents rocked and cooked all the food we had and my sister Christine helped a ton with the decorations and planning. We hired a couple to do our "bar" - which was virgin pina coladas (don't think baby would have liked any liquor). :) It was a great night - and almost everyone dressed up! (Carly Street took our photos - she rocks!)

Tivoli Too! Kale Wedding Photography in Laguna Beach, CA

Orange County Wedding Photography

This couple was a dream. So easy to work with. I heard some CRAZY stories from the groom and his groomsmen about working in the jails - they are too graphic to post. Just use your imagination. They got ready at Casa Laguna Inn in Laguna Beach and had their wedding at Tivoli Too! They did the first glance before going to Tivoli - which we LOVE. It gives us more time to get more shots of the couple and their bridal party - rather than just the 30 minutes Tivoli gives us.

Hospital Visits

Brian tried to take the boys to the hospital everyday to see me while I was in there Jan-Feb. They usually lasted about 20-30 minutes then Tyler was DONE. Brian could last longer, but with both - they found too many things to become "toys" in the hospital room. Brian and I played memory every time he came he liked to draw a lot too.

My First room

I was not allowed to dry my hair because I would have to be off the monitor too long....so hair in a knot everyday, no makeup, and gaining tons of weight from doing nothing. Ugh. Check out the nice socks - those were worn everyday so that I did not get blood clots from laying in bed all day. Finding something to fit my big belly was hard - when it couldn't be anything fashionable. It had to be things that could be moved for the monitors.

Disneyland with my boys

Early January we went to Disneyland as a family (before I was admitted to the hospital). Brian was great and took the kids there a lot when I was at the hospital, to the zoo, and more. What a good dad! :)
